Hi Everyone.
Before the holidays some people were talking about starting the low-choline diet and being very strict with no cheating for a 2 - 3 month period like Leonor Morales did. If you read, Leonor followed a strict low-choline diet with no cheating for a 3-month period and says she no longer has an odor and can eat a normal diet now.
I believe she had a urine test that tested negative for TMAU. Well, I had a urine test that tested positive, but I'm going to give this diet a try and also take all my supplements and probiotics.
I know most folks do already follow the low-choline diet and so do I, but I must say, I've never done it with NO CHEATING. I usually cheat every week when I think I can. My theory is if we keep the choline low enough, hence the TMA, for long enough, and also take many strong probiotics at the same time, then we can get the bad bacteria down to a very low amount that either it won't cause an odor or it will get so low that the probiotics will crowd it out.
I am going to start this Monday, January 16th, if anyone wants to join me, and we could encourage each other and talk about our progress. I also have to say that I cannot detect my own odor so I can only go by reaction, so forth.
HERE IS MY PLAN:
HCI - digestive enzymes
Digestzyme - digestive enzymes
B-2 (riboflavin) 5 times a day
Folic acid - 1 in a.m. and 1 in p.m.
Magnesium to keep my bowels moving
High doses of probiotics -Klaire-Labs Ther-Biotic powder (heard about from someone on the forum.) I'm hoping gargling with the powder before swallowing might help with bacteria in the mouth for hallitosis also.
low pH soap
low pH lotion
might try lemon juice, which many seem to have had success with.
HERE ARE THE THINGS I PLAN TO EAT:
white rice
rice milk
green peppers
cucumbers
celery
iceberg lettuce
Romain lettuce
strawberries
blueberries
watermelon
Crispix cereal
chicken breast
sweet potato
pears
tomatoes
herbal caffeine-free tea
maybe egg whites (they make me a little nervous cuz some people get an odor from them.)
Leonor said she only used sea salt as a spice
I plan to do this for 2 months and then at the end of that see what I think about 3 months. What's different this time from what I normally do is I WILL NOT CHEAT AT ALL, I WILL MAKE SURE I TAKE B-2 5 TIMES A DAY, AND I WILL NEVER FORGET TO TAKE MEGA
DOSES OF PROBIOTICS EVERY DAY AND DRINK LOTS OF WATER TO MOVE EVERYTHING THROUGH MY BODY.
I'm thinking this might have the same effects as taking antibiotics, but this is the natural way.
I welcome any input. My one concern is can we cause the bacteria to become resistant? I'm hoping not, by using the probiotics instead of the antibiotics.
I think this is going to be hard, but hopefully it will be worth it. I think one of the hardest parts is how do you handle staying on the diet in social situations, dinner out, etc. Maybe we could trade ideas.
