Me and my fiance planned our valentines date for two weeks. We were very exited to have a date night because since I'm not working we rarely have money to go out to eat.
We got ready, fiance got a haircut, and we headed to Applebees. We were seated behind an African American woman and her two african american sons who where 7 and 10 yrs old. I noticed them because they were VERY LOUD. The 10 yr old boy looked like the classic bully you'd find on a playground. He was very over weight, talkative, pushy, and very loud.
Long story short, I start eating and he jumps out of his seat and paces then makes faces and covers his mouth and nose and yells "it stinks!" over and over. His mother tells him to sit down.
So he does but he keeps making comments and faces. My fiance gets upset. I feel the same way and appreciate the support :-)
When the main course arrives the boy starts asking everyone at his table in a loud in voicetrous voice "Oh no did you FART?!!!" And proceeds to bully his brother all while looking at us. His mother finally breaks her silence and starts laughing with them. My fiance is infuriated. So I decided to put my money where my mouth is and decided to SAY SOMETHING.
That's right! I confronted them all with a very generic sentence. I said "HEY! Can you keep it down!!!?"
The boy ignored me, but the mother took notice… she hung her head down a little and soon pulled out her purse, payed abd left :-)
I'm REALLY PROUD OF MYSELF!
Everyone there was starring at them also… they were disturbing everyone there. No body liked the volume coming from that table.
My point is THIS:
That boy was TOO BIG for his age, he was very overweight, and he acted and LOOKED like a bully!!!!!!!! My fellow BODY ODOR SUFFERS, we are being bullied by REAL BULLIES. And the best way to stop the behavior is by STANDING UP FOR OURSELVES!
Our situation is NO DIFFERENT then that of children who are bullied at school by a real life BULLY.
WE NEED TO STAND UP TO PEOPLE. BELIEVE ME IT WORKS! Those people left soon after o asked them to keep it down and the mother heard my voice and realized they were wrong. She stopped laughing when I spoke up. It works!
I feel so liberated. I don't think I will ever act aloof or hang me head low again. That was awesome! And I hope more of us follow suit and do the same!
