I basically cured my body odor, and it was under control for several years.
I had strong underarm odor (bromhidrosis). It would surface about 10 minutes after showering, and would worsen throughout the day.
These are the specific steps I take to control it:
Unfortunately, they stopped making the probiotics I was using. I haven't been able to find a replacement that works, so my odor is actually coming back.
When choosing a probiotic, I look for something with a wide range of strains. I also look for something that is not enteric coated. This is the difficult part, as it seems that all probiotics are now enteric coated. For whatever reason, enteric coated probiotics don't work for me.
On that note, if anyone is aware of any non-enteric coated probiotics, please share.

These are the specific steps I take to control it:
- In the shower, I use a body wash with salisylic acid, and scrub with an exfoliating pad for 3 minutes on each side.
- After showering, I apply clindamycin phosphate foam. It's a topical antibiotic for acne, and requires a doctor's prescription.
- I'm male, but I use Secret deodorant. I've tried them all, and Secret works best for me. After applying the clindamycin phosphate, I wait 90-120 minutes before applying deodorant.
- I take zinc. For me, 100 mg per day works. This FDA recommends that people only get 40 mg of zinc per day (in the UK I think the recommended dosage is even lower), but it' been a necessary component of controlling my odor.
- I take probiotics and prebiotic fiber. I used to take 60 billion CFU of probiotics per day, and combined with the other steps, my odor was gone for about 4 years.
