Positive DOING
Positive thinking can be hard at times but it's well worth pursuing. Positive DOING can create the FEELING of positivity within yourself, especially if you believe that you are doing it for the benefit of others as well as yourself. So sign the MEBO Research raising awareness online petition. It can help us all:

Re: Positive DOING
Hi Malory,
The primary reason the Petition was created is to help with programs like yours to raise awareness of our condition at higher more influential circles in politics and in the scientific/medical communities, but in order for the Petition to be successful, we would need 10 thousand signatures for it to be really looked at by the local State governments in the US, and 50K nationally. I wasn't really expecting our community to reach that level anytime soon, but I still wanted to put up this Petition as an invitation for everyone to do some self-reflection.
I think that sometimes we may not be fully aware of just how withdrawn and socially recluse we have become, and to what degree our shame is over this condition that we have totally no control over. I know that people are frequently afraid of putting their names and email addresses online, but I am am also very active in signing all kinds of petitions online to protect wildlife, the environment, domestic and international political issues, human rights issues, etc; and I see that these causes get thousands of signatures each. Why is that? Are these issues more important than the issue that has changed so many of our lives? Why are we not signing our own petition? This is a question each of us should ponder upon for some time. Is there something in each of us that needs healing?
I would like to reiterate my well-meaning intentions for presenting this Petition to our community knowing well what the outcome would probably be - 1) to raise awareness, and 2) for self-reflection conducive to self-healing. To be honest, I think the 2nd reason is more important than the first.

Re: Positive DOING
Hi,
Just signed today and astonished that there are only 76 signatures.
I agree with jcc about getting confused about the numbers of members we have. For example, I would e-mail literally hundreds of people about meet ups in the UK and get a handful of responses usually from the same people and no response at all from the majority. Sad and disheartening.

Re: Positive DOING
Hi jcc34 and Jan,
The reason I am convinced that we have a very large INTERNATIONAL community that visits MEBO’s website, English and Spanish blogs, is because Blogger gives statistics that I look at from time to time. I have made screenshots some of them so you can see them if you like.
Here are the links to the screenshots I made of the English and the Spanish blogs (not including the website) visits by persons using body odor related keywords from mostly English and Spanish speaking countries:
Average of 135 unique visitors per day to the English blog, and percentage by countries
Average of 210 unique visitors per day to the Spanish blog, and percentage by countries
Total of 10,486 pages viewed in one month (29MAY-27JUN11) in the English blog
Total of 10,056 pages viewed in one month (29MAY-27JUN11) in the Spanish blog
I agree with you that TMAU is a rare disease, especially if you only consider Primary TMAU and totally ignore Secondary TMAU. Now, when you also include other FMO3 body odor conditions yet to be researched, and when you add the role of microorganisms, probably mostly in the gut, you begin to increase those numbers substantially. Nonetheless, no matter how you look at it, I just can’t believe that we are a small community when there are over 10 thousand/year Spanish and English speaking people around the world (that may be unique visitors or repeat visitors) that happen to have a computer (not every body odor sufferer has a computer), that would find us on a Google search using body odor keywords (we are not the highest on Google search displays).
And then we only have 76 signatures on the Petition in a week and a half?
Remember, anyone can sign anonymously...
I AM NOT JUDGING people for not signing the petition, so please don't misunderstand my position. I understand the deep wounds, the distrust that develops when a sufferer experiences rejection and discrimination by society, etc. What I am trying to do is to call people to self-awareness, to better understand oneself, to re-evaluate whether each person wants to keep allowing society to lead us into reclusion, or do we want to free ourselves from this bond. Why should we care what others think when they are in the wrong? We need to raise awareness so that they will become informed and so they will truly understand.
Only by coming out do we stand a chance of being recognized as a large international community. The Petition serves as a mirror that we can look at to see ourselves – what have we become? Are we happy with this social stance?
If you thought we are a small group, what can we expect from grant donors and scientists? How much easier is it for experts to then say that it is all in our heads if we stay in hiding?
We as a community do need to explore these questions and the stance each of us wishes to take to break the cycle for ourselves and for our future generations.

Re: Positive DOING
I wish I could be around to be a part of the discussion I hope these stats will ignite, but I'm going to be away on vacation high on the Rocky Mountains where I don't always have a signal for my cell phone or laptop. However, I will have the opportunity to join in from time to time, so I'll be looking forward to a very interesting discussion. I do hope everyone will pour their hearts out here, and give your opinions, spill your feelings here because we will all understand. I hope you do.

I believe in POSITIVE thinking.
Without positive thinking, I would NOT be here today.
Positive thinking or Faith, are basically "believing and seeing what is not there in the natural world, per se." It is what makes the football team with 11 players that are all 80 pounds successful against the NFL Superbowl Champions! LOL! Okay, maybe that is a way out example!~ lol!
You are what you think!
