I've seen shows like The Doctors and Embarrassing Bodies on TV, and the only treatment they prescribe for the people suffering from sweaty armpits is Botox.
I find that really funny because shouldn't the doctors check out the underlying reasons first? Botox does help but it only prevents sweating temporarily.
And it's pumping poison into the body to prevent the body from cleansing out toxics, so no way is that a permanent solution.
I believed my problem could be due to overactive thyroid glands, or that something might be screwing my sweat system.
I'm not sure which department should I turn to for help. The dermatologist, or...?

I would like to know the answer to this too.
Are the brom people around to tell us about this? We had some really good posts about this in the previous forum, but I don't remember exactly everything that was discussed. Maybe some brom people can refresh our memory.

To put it simply: yes. Botox was THE only thing that stopped my pits from sweating.... Weird thing was I never really felt like I smelled until about 6-10months into it..
After trying everything, I went the Botox route (twice) and, as it 100% stopped my pits from sweating, I feel as though my smell may have gotten stronger (though I can't really smell it)....
Right now my Botox has been pretty much done since May, still not sure if I'm going back for it.... So far the sweat hasn't been bothering TOO much.. Before going the Botox route, I would get out of the shower and my pits would start getting wet in less than 15 minutes... Right now, my Botox has weared off and I actually do have to "work" a little bit before they start getting wet. Overall, I'd say it was worth it thus far......
It's a really odd condition, I'm just glad I've got plenty of friends and family to help me keep my mind off it!!! Good luck buddy, we can all fight this together ;D

Hi Johnny,
Thanks for your input, but what I want to know is, did you see a doctor before going for Botox?

There is always surgery, depending on the severity of your condition. I had a skin graph on both armpits, it solves the problem for good since the skin containing the glands is completely removed and replaced with skin from one of your thigh.

flyflyfly, I did a few times. Basically told me to try all kinds of things like talc powders, certain-dri (only lasted a couple months for me), etc... Told me that surgery would probably make the sweat re-locate to a different part of the body, etc... Then told me about Botox saying it would probably be covered by insurance (they covered about 75% of it - only once a year)... But, like I said earlier, thus far - I'm not too bad without it and its been about 3-4 months.. I find that when I'm with close friends my sweating isn't a problem (but brom still is) and as long as I take time to get comfortable elsewhere, it's not too bad. Hopefully I can figure out this brom situation, we'll see....

Johnny, did you test for any thyroid issues first?
My mum's side has a history of thyroid problems so it might be what's affecting me.
Oh, and shouldn't you register for an account?

For my past trip, I actually went for a holiday during the winters and yes, even if the temperature is below 0 degrees, I was still sweating, especially in my armpits.
I remembered it was hell for me then because I only had 2 thermal wear, and the holiday lasted a week+.
So basically I had stinky armpit odor clinging on to me despite it being winter, and people were probably wondering why this boy smelt sooo sweaty and sooo bad even in cold temperatures.

fly, I'm telling you man: go to your fridge and get the baking soda out - take about a half cup of it and put it in a jar - take another half cup of corn starch - put it in a jar. Mix. Brush under armpits. No more b/o.
^ Coming from someone who had b/o 15 minutes after I got out of a shower. It works wonders. Don't even care too much if I'm sweating under there anymore lol

I'm suffering from hyperhydrosis, meaning my smell comes from the sweat.
I doubt the mixture would work, and I think it'll get sticky and clammy when mixed with the sweat...

I have HH and had brom for a while, tried pretty much everything and got to the point where I saw a specialist who was recommending the procedure where they cut or clamp the main nerves that control sweating (can't remember what it's called).
So I decided to make sure I'd tried everything else first. Long story short I have found that a combination of taking zinc suppliments and using sure maximum protection cream (anti perspirant deodorant) is 90%+ effective. In fact I found that particular sure antiperspirant to be more effective than products such as driclor or odaban, simply because my skin was too sensitive to tolerate them.
I suggest you try this too before opting for any of the more radical procedures.

Definitely agree with trying all other possible routes before doing a procedure. Bare in mind many people have reported things not helping or even making things worse in some cases.
Many people seem to have progressed from HH to bromhidrosis, it might be that the over sweating was actually helping get the toxins out. HH isn't great but I think most would agree it's better than bromhidrosis.

Try sweatblock. It worked for me but did not cure the odor. Well, it's really not a deo, just an anti-perspirant. I dont really have excessive sweating, my underarms would get wet but not too much. One thing I notice for sure my underarms didnt sweat at all, not even a little dampness, with sweatblock.
If you think your odor is due to hyperjydrosis you might want to give it a shot.
