Many (but not all) odour sufferers find that their bowels influence their body odour. When they suffer constipation or diarrhoea their odour becomes hugely worse!
The mechanism of this suggests an intestinal component (chemical) to their body odour. This smelly chemical may (?) be being absorbed into the blood stream and expelled via breath and sweat glands.
Alternatively, if flatus or smelly diarrhoea are present, the odour may attach to the person's body (especially sweaty or hairy areas such as the scalp) after defecation and linger on the body long after the person leaves the toilet.
Either way, if a person notices their odour becomes hugely worse after diarrhoea or constipation then these symptoms must clearly be managed.
Many of us on these boards appear to have some chronic gut condition such as IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). This can be IBS-C (where C stands for constipation) or IBS-D (where D stands for diarrhoea). Others may have Crohn's Disease, ulcerative colitis or some other gut condition that produces symptoms of diarrhoea or constipation.
One of the aims of this subboard on Gut conditions is to get such gut conditions diagnosed and treated appropriately. We can then observe what effect it has on our odour conditions.
If you feel that you have chronic symptoms of constipation or diarrhoea and have noticed that this makes your breath or body odour worse please post on this subboard so we can assist diagnosis and treatment of your condition.

Yes I have noticed that bo gets worse when I get constipated and eat certain foods especially those not allowed foods for Ibs patients and also some other allowed foods as well.I noticed that ever since I have stopped consuming milk and some fruits along with regular probiotic and charcoal intake that gas is not as problematic as it has been.I don't know the correlation between bo and IBS .I sometimes feel that inflammation may be the reason.

I think this subboard is a great idea! I definitely have noticed a connection between my stomach condition and bo. If my stomach is upset i feel sweaty, inflammataion and musty. I've been diagnosed with helicobacter pylori which was cured but no effect to bo, and IBS. I'm totally avoiding gluten, milk and potatoes, should avoid sugar too because these all make my stomach 'weaker'.

I was treated for hpylori as well.I still feel that I have it although tests show that I am negative for it.I still can't avoid gluten because I will be out of nothing to eat.I mean I need a staple that I can eat food with. But I know that I have to avoid it.I also gain weight and couldn't loose weight ,which makes me think that inflammation is going on or I have some food allergy.I have read somewhere that gluten either makes you loose weight or gain .I want to try the Atkins diet which I found it to be responsive ,for weight lose but it is too much animal product that I have to eat and bo is the concern. I still can't believe the weight I am in .I used to be size 0 and I am size unbelievable lol. Anyways

Burgendi, Can you just remind me, have you been diagnosed with TMAU? (I haven't)
Yes, I have noticed that anything that irritates or inflames the gut (alcohol, spices etc) makes the odour worse. This is further evidence for an intestinal component to our odour.
Also, any fermentation in the gut will produce wind which aggravates the odour we produce. Fruits (especially when ripe) are notorious for this). All probiotics give me gas too. Milk contains lactose which is a sugar. If there is abnormal fermentation in the gut then this lactose ferments and produces gas and lactic acid which irritates the gut further.
Atkins diet will greatly worsen your bo. When I eat a lot of roasted meats my odour is much worse.
In summer I live on Pizza Hut salads. You can eat so much of this and not put on weight or aggravate the odour. I exercise too and drink a lot of water and my condition is better. Hot weather and stress make my condition worse. Chocolate and coffee are bad. I am sometimes tempted by coffee but never by chocolate. Alcohol is a no-no.
MrCham, Helicobacter can reside normally in the stomach without producing stomach ulcer conditions. There has been some articles linking it with halitosis but this is not well proven.
