My doctor prescribed me these, because of course she thinks "its all in your head". Biotch.
She put me on the lowest dosage. o.5mg and 50mg (sertraline), but I am so scared to take them because I have read that they can give you a sour milk type of smell and will make your body odour worse.
But the thing is I need to pretend to my parents and the doctor that I am taking them. My problems with the odour is causing my parents a lot of stress and worry, and they feel better knowing I am on the tablets. I can't bear to make them worry anymore, but I know these tablets will make my issue worse.
I was hoping someone on here who maybe has taken the tablets or is taking them could tell me your experiences taking the tablets. If you had any side effects... on a low or high dosage.
If I do not take them, I really do not want to be caught out by my parents for lying, because my mum is already pulling her hair in frustration and worry since I was lying to them about going to college. So it would be good to know any side effects so I can pretend I have them, and the doctor and my parents will believe my lie.

I was wondering about anti depressants as well, as i have high anxiety due to this condition and feel its getting out of control. I was recommended to take either escitalopram due to low side effects or Pregabalin. But of course was worried about odour going worse.
I didn't know whether this did affect your odour or not but seems likely as everything seems to affect it.
Any thoughts please.

"so I can pretend I have them, and the doctor and my parents will believe my lie".
It sounds lke your life is becoming a lie. The dose is so low why not try it. I take meds and am not ashamed of it.

It pretty much is, but I am trying to change it. When I get rid of the odour I will not live a lie anymore. I hope.
I really do not want to take them because I have read too many accounts of people who have taken them and gotten a sour body odour or just really bad body odour from them. These people did not have the b.o to start with, so I'm just really worried about it. I tried telling my doctor that it is not in my head, but she wont believe me no matter what and I think she has been convincing my parents that she is right. So now they also are in denial about it and think it is in my head. This whole problem has been killing them because I'm the baby of the family and they just worry to the max about it.
I just want them to think I am taking the tablets so they can sleep a bit better at night and worry less and think I am getting better. Sometimes I wish I never told them about the odour, because it is true when they say ignorance is bliss. Now all I feel is guilt. I just need to lie a bit more while I get myself sorted out with my diet and exercise.

I have been doing some researching and over on the tmau forum uk one poster says Prozac actually reduced her odour and the stink bomb smells plus anxious sweating. This is a big problem for me and dry mouth constantly with the anxiety and i hope if i can stop it, then other things won't be as bad, i am also restricting my diet. I got my prescription yesterday for escitalopram 5mg but am going to take 2.5mg to start off with as i really react to side effects badly on anti d's. Will post how i feel its going. Thread here from the other forum. www.tmau.org.uk/chat/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=182&hilit=antidepressants&start=10

Update: day 2 of the tablets gave bad reactions and have had comments on whether i had passed wind twice and i hadn't, so seems to be causing more odour for me. Didn't take one today and still got comments and obvious from people that odour is worse.
So a no go for me as can't face it, i will have to destress with yoga and EFT.
