Hello Everyone!
Ready for Monday?
I've included here some helpful posts that have been flying around while we've talked about starting this on Monday, and then we can keep adding in this "NO CHEATING DIET" subject and help each other out.
I'm excited. I'm so glad we've got so much momentum and support here! Here are some posts I've compiled to get us started. I look forward to lots of input!:
Hope everybody has a good first day and let's pray for strength! Wendy

Fidela,
I do not use cholorphyl. I tried it and I didn't like it. May sound wierd, but I thought it made me smell like onions. I suspected it might have had too much of some dark green veggie in it that we're not supposed to have for TMAU, b/c chlorphyl is the green part of plants, I think??? I use the charcoal instead. As far as I know, I have to bad consequences from that. I try to space the charcoal out about an hour from my other digestive aides, etc.
The B2, folic acid and charcoal I get from a regular health food store. I have researched a lot and I use Twinlab B-2 100 mg caps b/c they contain less of other ingredients than most I"ve found, only Gelatin, potato starch, magnesium stearate, medium chain triglycerides, which most contain. But some brands contain a lot of other fillers too. I found Twinlab to have the least. I use Solgar folic acid 400 mcg, same reasons. I sue Solaray Activated Charcoal 280 mg and take 3 if I've eaten something bad or a lot of something, like chicken. I have used other brands of charcoal too. I don't think it matters. All of these I get at the local health food store. If they don't have it they will probably order it for you or you can get it online probably.
The HCI (stomach acid) called Metagest by Metagenics, Digestzyme by Ortho Molecular Products (digestive enzymes) I get from my integrative doctor's little store in her office. I don't think you need a prescription but I think you need to buy from an authorized dealer. Might also try online. My doctor also has me on something called Mag. Glycinate, which I think is also Metagenics, but I don't have the bottle at the moment. I think that is for liver health. I take two every morning. I get the magnesium from a company callPerfect Balance that did a hair analysis on me a long time ago and recommended this product. It's the only thing that keeps my bowls moving. It is Magnesium. They call the product Support. There's a few other things in it too which I am not sure of the ramifications, such as Vit. E succinate, Vit B6, VIt. C, colic root and chromium. I take a lot of these, like 8 to 9 a day.
I use Neutrogena Body Clean Body Scrub and Wash and Eucerin daily skin balance lotion and Dermadoctor KP duty moisturizing therapy from time to time. I get all of these but the last one at Kroger. THe last one from Sephora (expensive!)
I got the Klair-Labs Ther-Biotic online as recommended in a past post. I was taking others that I also got from my doctor's store, but the Klair-Labs have every strain that is recommended for TMAU. I can't remember where I got that info, but picked it up somewhere in my research. I should have some sort of degree by now! LOL! I'm sure we all could with all the research we've done! I'm going for NO mistakes and NO cheats for 2 months here, at least!
There was a thread going around awhile ago also that it's really important to take the B-2 five times a day, which I always forget and probably just get it in a few times most days, but I am going to be extremely diligent about that. Also tended to forget my probiotics many times b/c I keep them separate from my other supps in the fridge, but also will be diligent about that.
I WANT MY LIFE BACK....So I am going to give this a concentrated strict effort here and see if it's possible to cure this, like it is said is possible. If not a cure, I hope the bad bacertia will decrease enough that my body can handle more choline on a regular basis, after this, or can handle occasional cheats without odor.
Hope this helps.

I am so excited that others are joining this choline diet because I am 100% positive that it works but from experience I have to agree with others that you have to cheat maybe just a little bit on your diet. your body needs at least 425-450mg of choline daily to function normally, but to actually see a reduction in your odor you have to take at most 100mg a day and within a month you would see a huge difference but the trick is to cheat with the right foods like spinach or such instead of cheating with beef, beans or worse fish. you still need your protein no matter what or you would get sick trust me. SO what I do is that I cheat or "treat" myself but with foods that might be a little high on choline but are not serious odor triggers like beef, pork. beans, milk, sugar, fish, egg( not egg whites) and the likes. to have a more sucessful diet you need to actually measure the amount of choline you are taking each day, I have a list of safe foods and
their choline contents. I posted it inherent before and I would look for it and post again. another great idea is to follow like a cooking guide, think of delicious meals you can make with our very strict diet and share recipes. I have a few recipes of my own that i trully enjoy.

Hi Mini
The number is 712-432-1620 ext #391629. I'm not sure when the next conference call is, I'm sorry. I can certainly let you know if I here something. I do believe there is Skype Conference call scheduled for today.

Hi Wendy,
I am going to join you, I have been terrible about the diet over the holidays. Just a couple differences: rice krispies and jello. If I don't have jello for a sweet, I tend to cheat. I do believe that using probiotics instead of antibiotics is the way to go.
Another thing, once you (we) get this beast under control, we can add foods in. There are a ton that are low enough in choline, just need to test each one. Egg whites aren't bad on occasion, but do contain sulphur so be careful!
When I go out, I'll get grilled chicken salad with vinegar and oil, or grilled chicken sandwich with fries (a splurge but not bad on occasion). Pasta with marinara is another good choice
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I cannot swear that they work for me because I cannot detect the odor myself, but I do know that the pH is where it should be for TMAU on these products. Unfortunately, they're kind of expensive.
Neutrogena Body Clear Body Scrub (my favorite. has scrubbing beads in it.)
Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash (scented of grapefruit. don't know if that's a problem.)
Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Body Lotion
Dermadoctor KP Duty dermatologist moisturizing therapy for dry skin (LOVE this but it's VERY expensive. It also sloughs. So I don't use it everyday, but I rotate it in maybe a couple times a week or I use it on parts that need sloughed only and the Eucerin on the other parts.
I keep hearing about lemon juice. I may have to give that a try.

Gabby,
Good input. Iceburg is out and Romaine is in! This is why these forums are so great and why doing this together is helpful!
Excellent idea on Arun's forum. I was trying to think of an idea of how we can all keep in touch. I think Arun's forum is perfect. Why don't I start a new thread under the Trimethylamanuria heading called "No Cheating Diet." I notice sometimes it's a pain to get logged in and a lot of times I just go in under guest. It's nice to know who you're talking to so if it's hard to get logged in maybe we could just sign our names at the end.
I have been keeping track of everyone who said they're "in." So far I have Gabby, Kim, EDI, Shania, Bridget, Fidela, Mini, rina4real2002, and whoever wants to join us at any time.
For those who don't know, go to www.bloodbornebodyodorandhalitosis.com and then click on Arun's Forum and we'll be under the head Trimethylaminuria, then No Cheating Diet.
Wendy

Just a thought ..... When I buy chicken. I only get the kind that has like 1% or maybe 3% water added. I stay away from the kind that has like 10% "natural juices" added. My brother said that means there is soy and/or MSG in the natural juices. It doesn't have to be organic just no natural juices added. Kim
