The need for Vitamin B2 increases when taking oral contraceptives!
As we all know the fm03 enzyme needs the vitamin b2 (Riboflavin) for proper function. People have already came to the conclusion that maybe a deficiency in vitamin b2 might cause the same symptoms as TMAU, but this has never been really tested to see if this is what may cause TMAU. It has been offered as help for TMAU but I don't think it's ever been tested to see if it can cause it or symptoms like it. I've seen a few posts on how this vitamin has helped some people with TMAU and I've also seen how this vitamin hasn't helped some people. I think it all comes down to what's causing it. Everyone has different causes for TMAU, some have the genetic disorder itself and some have bacterial overgrowth and I think some may have a B2 deficiency or a combination of all 3. And that's probably why just one alternative doesn't always help because there's more than one.
I was reading a book called 'Prescription for Nutritional Healing' and I looked up Vitamin b2 in the book and it said that it aides in the metabolism in of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. I'm pretty sure all of you know that, but I really think this is a BIG reason why some of us have this body odor problem. It's so much stuff for me to explain that I don't wanna miss pointing a few things out. Since it aides in metabolism then maybe a deficiency in this vitamin will cause a metabolic problem like TMAU. It also says that it facilitates the use of oxygen by the tissues of the skin, nails and hair. Maybe this is a reason for my acne because I JUST JUST started to get acne when I've NEVER EVER had it before! I think I may have a riboflavin deficiency.
It also says a deficiency of this vitamin can cause inflammation of the mouth and tongue, this might be a reason for the burning sensation around my mouth. It also causes dermatitis which is linked to skin problems and it rung a bell to me that this is probably why I'm developing skin problems when I'm a adult. It also causes hair loss, which really hit home for me, because I just recently began to lose my hair. It's just been falling out for no reason at all. Before I came down with this body odor problem I never really ate often, so maybe this is why I became deficient in these vitamins resulting in b.o? A deficiency in riboflavin also causes poor digestion and this is probably why a lot of us can't digest certain foods good. Did you know that some people are born with a low absorption to riboflavin? So that's probably why some have had this problem all of their life. I'm just stating what I think is going on with our bodies. This has never been proven because I heard this theory has never been tested.
Now, what I'm getting ready to tell you guys is what really hit the nail on the head for me. I know how a lot of women feel that when their menstrual cycle comes their TMAU gets worse, even in women without TMAU can experience TMAU-like symptoms before and during their menstrual cycle.
It's been speculated that the rise of estrogen and progesterone is what may be causing the odor to get bad. Now a lot of us don't know why these hormones alter the functioning of the fm03 enzyme, but in this book called 'Prescription for Nutritional Healing' it says specifically:
"Factors that increase the need for riboflavin include the use of ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES AND STRENUOUS EXCERCISE!!!!!!!"
Now a lot of women talk of how their TMAU gets worse or begins when they take oral contraceptives. Oral contraceptives contains estrogen and progesterone and I think that when these women constantly take this drug it slowly increases these two hormones to very very high rate. Scientists never knew why the progesterone and estrogen hormones caused women's fm03 function to get low. But I think I may have found it out. In my theory I think it's all a chain reaction, I think these women were slightly deficient in this vitamin all along, that when they take this drug it really decreases the amount of vitamin b2 (Riboflavin) in their bodies that then causes the fm03 enzyme to not function properly. Because like I just said it's been proven that oral contraceptives INCREASES the need for vitamin b2, because I guess maybe it decreases the amount of riboflavin in the body or aggravates it.
It has also brought me to the conclusion that since oral contraceptives includes progesterone and estrogen, that these two hormones is the cause for low riboflavin? I also came to the conclusion that since TMAU seems to get worse before and during women's menstrual cycles because of the two female sex hormones; progesterone and estrogen that these two hormones throws a HUGE blow at our vitamin b2 in our bodies? And that might be what's causing us to have this odor problem? I don't know, what do you guys think about this?
Oh yeah and in the book it also states that vitamin b2 is destroyed by ANTIBIOTICS and THE CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL!!!!!! A lot of TMAU sufferers say that their symptoms GET WORSE or BEGIN when they take these TWO THINGS!!! It has also been proven that taking antibiotics gets rid of the good bacteria in your gut. So maybe it really is a combination of the two that's causing this ongoing problem for us. Let me know what you think.
