my story briefly, 15+ years ago started to suffer with bad breath. started as dry sticky mouth when i drank alcohol or ate certain foods and got worst. my digestion became poor and my strength decreased. i physically and mentally deteriorated over the next few years i ended up with symptoms like gws/ lymes desease. i suffered for years and my breath now smelling so disgusting i could taste it, i could not talk to people at any distance without them reacting to me. i spent all my spare time on the internet trying to find a cure tried all the usual things with no effect. eventually i went on antibiotics for a year as a cure for my gws symptoms and it worked slowly but surely and my bad breath went too. now i am fairly normal but my malodour has returned not to the same degree as before, i dont have a dry sticky mouth all the time and its not as bad but i know it is still offensive to others from their reactions. on top of this i also seem to have body odour which i cant smell but other people can. after spending years just viewing forums thought i would join in it might help although i dont expect to find a cure now but who knows. i am interested in getting tested for tmau but its seems you need to go through your gp which i rather not do as he "cant smell anything"

Hi Grimey, I suspect you may have Secondary Trimethylaminuria (also known as TMAU2).
I suggest you email Dr Nigel Manning in Sheffield or Dr Robin Lachmann in London. He will then ask you to obtain a referral from your GP.
However, if you have a Contact name already and have emailed him and got a reply then your GP is likely to refer even if he can't smell you. Just tell your GP that not everyone can smell the odour and it may even be intermittent. Arun
