Hello everyone, I'm feeling really down about my bad breath which is getting worse no matter what I do. I feel like I have tried everything:
- apple cider vinegar - body mint - nulla - baking soda - acupuncture - reikhi - mouth washes - oral care is excellent - changing diet - I follow an almost vegan diet, don't eat yeast and only drink water - following low choline diet; I have been diagnosed with secondary TMAU
I socially isolate myself. People back away from me at work and hold their noses; I just want to stay home permanently.
I am a naturally positive person and really not self-indulgent at all, and always think of others and their problems, but I can't ignore an ever worsening problem. I feel I will never be able to have a relationship and have children, and at 39, that is a source of sadness in itself.
I post this knowing no-one is going to have anything to share that will help as I have done so much research.

Hey Dee, Sorry to hear your breath is worse these days. Although my body odour is better these days, I still have a breath problem.
You have mentioned many remedies you have tried but have not mentioned tongue scraping. Without physically removing the white/ brown tongue plaque that accumulates on the tongue I don't feel any of these remedies will work.
Try using a stainless steel tongue scraper and collect the scrapings on a tissue. Then ask someone to smell the tissue and you will see how their face screws up. This is why it is essential to scrape the tongue after every meal or drink or at least every 3 hours.
Email me and I'll tell you more ArunNagrath@hotmail.com
Are you attending the phone conference tonight? (see News flash at the top of the Forum Home Page) Arun

Hi Dee, I understand your frustration. Here are some things I've tried:
I scrape, like Arun had mentioned, and I use SmartMouth mouthwash, which is a no-alochol mouthwash. I'm pretty religious with it. Probably at least three times a day.
Also, I treated for candida, and that reduces the coating.
Also, I take digestive supplements, and I believe that helps. Your doctor can help you with that. stomach acid supplements and pancreatice digestive type, so the food does not "spoil" in your stomach or not get passed through the digestion process quick enough.
Also, have you tried something to keep your bowels moving. I use magnesium.
I hope you find some relief.
I don't think I found good things with Apple Cidar vinegar, but can't really be sure, just from reactions. Anyone else's opinion?
Thanks, Bethemiracle TMAU2

Dee, I just wanted to say something about unknown/unresearched causes of Halitosis. This stems from some research I was involved in many years back.
Although we don't all have the same symptoms on this site, there seems to be a common metabolic pathway which is defective! I believe that for many of us who suffer halitosis on these sites, the actual origin of the odour is often a site far removed from the mouth!! (my own belief is that there is some intestinal involvement).
I believe the odorous chemical is passed round the body in the blood stream and is excreted from the lungs (these people will not have tongue plaque) or in the saliva (these people will have tongue plaque) or in the undearms etc (if there is no breath odour there will be no tongue plaque).
In the Halitosis Sub forum I have added some Archived messages to this site so that you can benefit from actual members' experiences. These are more important than a lot of research in this field! Arun

I have a BLOG that I started about b.o. and oral hygene. I have a reli interesting regimen that has HELPED my BAD BREATH. Here it is: 1) Floss teeth with floss 2) Brush teeth with No sugar, no flouride toothpaste (all natural toothpaste). Brush the insides of your cheeks, gums, back and front of teeth, inner upper and lower lips. 3) rinse mouth with water, then rinse it again with Warm Water and Hydrogen Peroxide. 4) Scrape your tongue with a tongue scraper 5) use a WATER PICK and inside of it put water and hydrogen peroxide. Then FLOSS TEETH with water pick. 6) using the LOWEST SETTING on your water pick, rinse your TONSILS with the water pick. Then you are done. Rinsing your tonsils REALLY helps your breath. Try it. You'll be plesantly surprized Everyone go read my blog for more tips: jennyjennifer1234.xanga.com/
