First off I'm very glad to have found this site. Alright,I have been struggling with bo for about 3 years now.I'm 19 and must admit this has affected my life terribly what irritates me most is when my parents say they can't smell anything when I practically hear people commenting about my bo assuming I am not hygienic when in actual fact I am more hygienic than most people I know. My question is howcome there are some people that sometimes skip on baths n forget usin deo but they dont smell at all when some of us smell so bad even after takin baths, deo, etc. Also I'm not sure if i have tmau or not? Where do I go for testings? Thought I should add that I have diff smells somedays and dont sweat too much.Would anyone recommend that I go the surgery route;removing my apocrine glands?

I don't know all about that apocrine gland surgery removal. But, I do know that the mayo clinic (which is a medical website) does do testings for tmau. And I think the amount they ask for is about 150$, question what makes you so sure that you have tmau?

Just to let you know Spanxx some people on the old forum reported that when they had some of their sweat glands removed, I think it was their underarm ones, their odour unfortunately migrated to a different part of their body and in many cases got worse. I guess maybe your glands themselves could be the problem but more likely it's the fact that your body produces too much toxins for some reason, with most of us on here its because of issues with our digestive systems. If that's the situation with you then remvoing the glands won't help at all, in fact it could makes matters worse.

The removal may cause side effects. Have you tried any diet? Some diets are good. Like candida diet and raw food.

Hi spanxx, what type of odor(s) are you dealing with? Is it only underarm odor? You might try antibacterial soap and hand sanitizer throughout the day to kill any bacteria. A Dr can also prescribe topical antibiotic if this seems to be the case.
If you have insurance it might be worth your while to test for TMAU. Arkansas Children's Hospital also tests for TMAU and the paperwork with instructions are available on their website.

Frankly Im not really sure if I do have TMAU but it wont hurt testing for it.Thanx for the replies though. Its so hard to try the diet thing although I have noticed when I have milk or eggs it tends to make the smell worse so I cut those out.Hmmm... Im not giving up though
