???I went shopping with my sister in law today. She entered my car and suggested that I keep the windows down cause my car smelled funny. I know what she meant that it smelt of fish/body odour whatever . How do I keep my car fresh anyone? It is a 2003 and I can't afford to professonly clean it not on my wages ?

try getting one of those adjustable air freshers by renuzit. choose the scent you like and leave it in the car. it worked for my friend she didn't have BO but her car always smelled nice.

Hey Angel, A car has a very small air space and is very likely to smell unless you take active measures. I always have the windows right down when I'm driving alone in the car. However, if it is raining or I have someone else in the car then I have the blower switched on full blast and keep at least one window a teeny bit open. This ensures a certain number of Air Changes per hour (ACH). The greater the ACH, the less smelly your car.
I must admit, I also do the same as Sunshine - I spray the car thoroughly with Febreeze before anyone gets in. I use Febreeze Thai Orchid or Apple Spice. Do you guys get these flavours in the US?
I spray the seats, especially the headrests. Also, you can get special valeting spray scents for car carpets which smell incredible, kind of like aromatherapy. My advice though is avoid having fabric seats or carpet in your car if you can. Carpet and fabric fibres hold on to smells and release them slowly.
Some people talk about turning up the AC to help with the odour but I don't believe this helps. The air should be physically removed from the car by using the blower and a slightly open window.
Also, when the car is parked overnight, do any of you leave your window a teeny bit open at the top? This should be done on both sides of the car so you get cross ventilation. However, if you live in a dodgy neighbourhood this may be unwise! Instead, keep your windows locked and use your car odour as a deterrent! ;D Arun

Yeah, just good ventilation helps. Every now and again try to air the car - open all the window/doors/ boot and let it air. Clean the seats when you clean your car. Bare in mind some or most air fresheners have a degree of toxicity also, you can find ones with more natural ingredients.

Car dealers use an ozone ionizer that plugs into your lighter on their used cars.

Hey guys, I read about a neat trick for removing the smell of cigarette smoke from a car. This may or may not work in our case. Cut a peeled onion in half and leave in the car overnight. Odour gone!
Apparently the car does not smell of onions either! Worth a try? Arun
