Hi livininhope! Sorry to hear about your diet troubles and the issue with the odor returning. It can be such a struggle sometimes. Especially when it comes to strict dieting. I also have cheat on my diet a little. It's all those food commercials that I watch and it makes me wanna just eat all the food I used to enjoy and miss so much. So these past few days I strayed from my diet. And because of that, I feel my odor has risen a notch, in a bad way, and my skin has become more oily and sticky than usual. The acidic, fatty unhealthy sweat that I read about. Was gonna go for my walking g exercise today but it's raining so I guess that's out of the question. I live near the ocean so yesterday I spent an half hour in the seawater, I read it's supposed to be good for detoxing so I'll add that to my regimen.
My odor has changed somewhat from a fecal odor to an musty, garbage, mildew like odor. It's faint, but it's there. It seems to coming from deep inside of me and comes out of my pores in waves, like my pores are farting lol that's the only way I can explain it. I constantly smell my clothes and myself and I seem to smell fine, but then every so often I'll get a whiff of my odor outta nowhere. Like my pores released gas. Then I'll smell myself but I smell fine. So my odor releases itself in waves. As far as my armpit odor, that still needs work. Like I mentioned before, no matter what kind of deodorant or antiperspirant I use, it only lasts half a day at most and then I can start smelling the usual armpit odor. I been using Apple cider vinegar or baking soda before I apply the antiperspirant which helps but still by midday, I can smell the armpit odor faintly coming on. But I'll just stick to what I've been doing but especially try to be real strict with my diet. I've chosen the scd diet. It's a little tough though cause macaroni salad and rice has been a staple food all my life! It's like saying goodbye to a lifelong girlfriend lol. also I've always been a consumer of high sugar products but have been doing extremely well on cutting back on my sugar intake. I still crave sweets but I want to beat this issue so bad I'm willing to do whatever it takes to beat this disorder.
Anyways hope you recover quick from your diet slip up and get back to your normal self in quick due time. Always great to hear from you. Keep me/us updated and till we chat again, god bless😃

Hi Stinky
How is the shampoo working for your scalp, have you seen any improvement? It’s brilliant that you are so close to the sea – you will definitely benefit from the salt water.
Keeping to your diet is really hard, especially if you have a sweet tooth – like me! However, once you realise you can get your life back and mix with people again you can overcome the cravings. When my odour reduced, even seemed to go away, and I was able to go into supermarkets and be near people without any reaction from them I was over the moon. It made me want to stick to my diet. I had to remind myself of this every day, sometimes 10 times a day! Also your stomach growls because you feel hungry, so I drink fresh water or even hot water with fresh lemon juice and that helps.
I believe that the odour is caused by overgrowth of the wrong kind of bacteria, maybe even the ones that oxidise choline and cause the TMAO gas, or just a mix of bad bacteria and candida. They are living in our gut and feeding off foods that have fermented in the gut. It is also possible that it could be some good bacteria like acidophilus but in the wrong place, like the small intestine. I feel I have proved this to myself because I had been on the diet for over a year and felt I wasn’t getting anywhere until I stopped the probiotics, then the odour seemed to disappear – so I thought that I had solved the problem, but obviously I have not. So I now have to be strict with myself in relation to what I eat. It’s a nightmare!
None of the diets are easy because they are very much based on vegetables, fish and meat, with some fruit and nuts. So if you enjoy bread, milk, cakes, pasta etc it can be a struggle adapting. Also the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) can be difficult for people who don’t eat much meat, and almost impossible if you are wholly vegetarian. If you trawl the internet there are loads of recipes and menus for the diet, however, if you don’t think it is the one for you check out the FODmaps diet. For the next six weeks I am going to try to eat all low carbohydrates, and stick to eggs, chicken, some veg, some tinned salmon or tuna, and the SCD chicken broth. I love fruits but I will leave them out of my diet for a while to see how I do. My main concern when I reduce the carbs so much is that my weight drops so quickly. At one time I was so afraid to eat anything that I was underweight. Now I understand about the importance of low carbs, I know I don’t have a choice – but it’s still hard.
Keep strong, we will get there!

Hi livininhope, good to hear from ya. The Neutrogena t/gel shampoo has been working fine but I still get that odor that emanates from my scalp. I guess that's where my strange odors want to release themselves. But the shampoo has been working great for dandruff. I would always have slight dandruff, not full on dandruff but I guess just tiny bits of dead skin that would flake off from my scalp when I brush my hair. I use a real course brush nowadays so I get a massage and get the blood flowing in my scalp when I brush. Also helps with the bits of dead skin my scalp seems to shed. But as far as working to reduce my scalp odor, I can't seem to tell the difference. I did buy dial antibacterial body wash so I'll use that when my shampoo runs out. That t/gel shampoo is pricey and the container it comes in is small lol.
I hear ya on the stomach growling from being hungry a lot. Haha happens to me a lot. But like you was saying, I just gotta focus on the positives of being on a strict diet. The positives being able to cut my odor down to a minimum where I am comfortable being around people and being able to socialize without the anxiety of fearing I smell awful around people. Today I am back on my strict diet and actually enjoyed my salad with a little portion of chicken. As I was walking thru the aisles of the grocery store, I was looking at all the prepared 'plate lunches' as we call them in Hawaii and I was so tempted to buy one! But I knew I would pay the price for it later and grabbed me a salad instead. Huge moral victory for me haha! I'm about to head to the bookstore now and look at the 'diet' shelve section. Might buy a book today so I can follow it to the tee. Either on of the FODmaps diet books or the scd diet book called 'breaking the vicious cycle'.
Always great to hear from ya, I always look forward to reading a post from you. It's like free therapy for me from someone who actually understands. I used to see a psychotherapist but didn't help me any. She would think everything was all in my head and would tell me to explain my situation to my doctor but my doctor is clueless as far as this condition we suffer from is concerned. She would always tell me to think positive thoughts and stuff, which I have been doing for years! I have so many self help, positive therapy books about how your thoughts can create your future and how you can heal yourself with positive thoughts but I think with this condition, it takes a little more than that cause trust me, I've tried and I have strong faith when I put my mind to something but with this condition, I think awareness and getting to the root cause will go a long way towards getting better. I still incorporate positive thoughts and using my mind to heal myself but I believe what I put into my body is the most important factor to beat this condition, of course along with positive thoughts and awareness and education of this disorder.
Anyways, take care and God bless. Hope to hear from you soon! On a side note, where's npd at? Haven't heard from him in awhile. You 2 are the only active members I've conversed with since I've joined this forum. I'm curious to how he's doing....god bless and take care😃

Hi there. How do you use the Betadine? Do I take it orally? Or is it used as an enema? I've read that it is used as an enema but I wanna be sure on the method to take it. Thanks in advance
