Hi all,
I have dealt with having BO for years. I don't know if it's worst for women but I only have my own experience to go by. I had a musty odor on the outer skin of my private region (ahem). It's not internal but just like my underarms, on the outer skin.
I just happened to start making my own Greek yogurt. It's cheaper and SO easy. Anyway, after you let the yogurt incubate, you have to separate the whey from it using a strainer like cheesecloth. I wondered if there was something I could do with this whey rather than just throwing it away. Turns out it is sorta like the acids found in cosmetics products. So, I started using it on my face.
Then I wondered what it would do to my problem area re:mustiness. I got a cotton ball and just applied it on the outer skin. I did this every night for about a week after showering. I kid you not, the mustiness is gone. When I say musty, I mean without the Thai crystal deodorant spray I'm musty about 5 minutes after showering and it is keen and far reaching must.
Not anymore! It is just wow! This is a week in and I will continue to do it. I have the whey, why not?
Of course, the whey has probiotics in it as that is one of the reasons that I eat a lot of Greek yogurt. My theory is that the probiotics in the whey have overtaken the musty smell producing bacteria.
So far so good. It's been a short period of time but I just thought of all the people on here who are struggling and maybe this will help someone.
this is how I make the yogurt from which I get the whey. You need a food thermometer and a thermos for this. I use a thermos because it's more convenient.

Some people warm their milk in the microwave.

I haven't tried that yet. But I will next time. Even quicker.
There's a chance that applying yogurt itself may give the same results. But I never thought of that. Apply it to the skin and see. What does it hurt?
