Hi guys,
I thought I'd make a thread because I just needed some comforting words and to talk to someone. Basically me and my brother were bullied alot in secondary schools and the emotional scars we now have are massive. We were bullied for BO (we both have it) but also for other reasons. I struggle to go about my day to day activities now because I keep thinking about the bullies and also my brother has become a very angry and emotionaly stunted young man. I just wanted to tell someone because I am struggling to cope with it all at the moment.
This week has been exceptionally bad though because my brother went to a christmas party and someone handed him deodarant and shower gel. Anyway thanks for reading any kind words would be appreciated.

Hello Happy Holidays I'm sorry for what you and your brother have gone through I'm sure if they understood about these conditions they wouldnt say anything. Bullying has caused me problems as well. Before highschool noone really commented about my odor until the last year or two and then i started obsessing over trying to find a cure and actually making myself wrose. years of my life have been wasted and the future looks very bleak without a cure. If people know you take a shower every day in my opinion they shouldnt say anything or make it seem like it can be cured with a simple shower or stick of regular deodorant available to everyone. in most cases most of us have probably tried so many things and have impeccable hygiene. That's why education about this condition is important and to see its not a laughing matter. I think to spread the message about tmau, metabolic disorders, overactive sweat glands and whatever else is causing bo would help us and also having these forums.

It is posts like yours which make my blood boil and spur me on to be more proactive. As an older sufferer, who developed my disorder at age 30, I cannot imagine how young people are managing to cope with this horror. This disorder is BECOMING MORE PREVALENT IN THE YOUNGER GENERATION and we all (but especially us oldies ) really need to do our utmost to: -raise awareness and prevent bullying -acquire research into cures I think that getting an older sufferer or a parent to talk to teachers at school/college etc to educate them about the condition is the only possible way to improve the situation, and I am always happy to do this (telephone or e-mail). Bullying comes from ignorance and you must not let the situation make you bitter. Keep telling yourself that it is not completely their fault and it is in no way at all your fault either. Most bullying is about ignorance and nothing more. The worst bullies have their own issues and insecurities, and you are far stronger and more dignified and compassionate than they will ever be, and they ENVY you for this.

I think that people need to be more nice to each other. Teachers get bullied too. If they are too fat, too thin or too long. Some young people are so cruel nowadays. It is good to think positive.

I suffered from bullying since I was a teenager until now that I am only 30's I tried everything. But nothing seems to work for me. I have overactive sweat glands and for that I actually went to dermatologist and they recommended drysol which works for little time and tried every deodorant I can try but looks like nothing seems to work for me. I am depressed to the point that I can anted to end my life but I think I'm too strong for that. Can u guys recommend something that will help me with my BO. I shower almost 3 times a day and exercise and tried to eat healthy. Your help is much appreciated.

Hi there
I am so sorry to hear about people being bullied, like Malory I am an older sufferer so didn't have to undergo the bullying at school etc. No-one has the right to bully anyone else and get away with it – these people are ignorant and cowardly.
There are some things you might be able to try to help your condition and I have given examples below:
Diet and lycopene Whatever you eat comes out in your sweat, so it is important to have a healthy diet, reduce your sugar intake especially sodas, sweets, wheat and cut out smelly foods like garlic, curry etc and see if that helps. Also read up on lypocene in your diet. According to an article in Medical Hypotheses, Irish biochemist J.C.M. Stewart thinks the antioxidant lycopene in tomatoes could be causing body odor in some humans. This is an abstract from his paper:
“” In this paper I propose that under arm odour is commonly caused by terpenes excreted via the axillary apocrine glands. I also show that these come from terpene and carotenoid-rich dietary sources including lycopene, tomatoes, orange peel and the glandular trichomes of tomato plants. These observations suggest that the axillary apocrine glands are a prominent excretory route for terpenes. Considering the quantities eaten, tomatoes are likely to be the main source of dietary terpenes, and under arm odour in turn.””
Botox injections If you have overactive sweat glands/ hyperhidrosis, you can get botox injections under your arms to reduce the sweating, I believe it has helped some people. Look it up on line and check out the reviews. I do not know what country you are from, but in the UK botox injections in the armpits are usually available free on the NHS, but this may differ from area to area you would need to check with your doctor.
Underarm Bacterial Transplantation – check out Dr chris Callewaert video There is information on line about this. Scientists successfully took bacteria from someone’s armpit who did not have problems with odour, and transplanted onto someone with odour issues, and it appears to have stopped the odour. See info on one study below.
“”Chris Callewaert, a Ph.D student specializing in microbial ecology, conducted a research trial to take away the bad bacteria from the armpit of somebody with a body odor, and replace it with the good bacteria of a relative who doesn't have a body odor," he explained."So far we have helped over 15 people. For most subjects it brings immediate improvements. Most of them on a permanent time scale, although there are also people who suffer again from a body odor after some months."

I'm getting bullied now in high school, i'm being called ugly and smelly. i have hyperhidrosis were i have excessive sweating problems, i took medication for it but it seems like it's not controlling the condition. the excessive sweating of course causes an odor to come upon your body, and it's not a good odor. I takes baths and sprays perfume on me but it doesn't help. and of course i have pet dogs, their house dogs and people don't like the smell of dogs. that's part of my odor to, so i wish i can get help for the problems i'm having with my sweating problems, i'm afraid that the bullying will get worst.
