A few days ago I began the Candida diet. I looked up online that before beggining the diet you have to cleanse your body. As for me, I skipped cleansing and currently I am on a strict diet, avoidin every food that can feed Candida. Also, I am not taking any medications to kill candida, such as anti-funguls, or even supplements, except for dugestive enzymes. Do you think the diet alone will help defeat candida, or will I have to add anti-fungul medication to the diet? Also, I eat garlic, almonds, and drink kefir, because they help fighting candida. Thanks in advance

Hi Rurichek, Unfortunately I wouldn't be as up on these things as others around here. From my very limited knowledge I would like to make one or two points - firstly on the cnadida diet its ok to eat meat but for a majority of people on this forum including myself especially red meat gives us a lot of trouble so do to be careful with that. Also some of the vegetable allowed like brussel sprouts and cabbage contain a lot of sulfur compunds so they wouldn't appropriate for a lot of us. Can't say whether its necessary to do a cleanse first or not, sorry. It might help but i guess the diet should still work. Kefir is a reliable source for good bacteria but I guess taking a probiotic would help also, vsl 3 is supposed to be one of the very best though it's price is reflected in its quality. I get mixed up between whats a good antifungal and a godd antibacterial thing to take. Garlic I think is pretty good for killing the bad bugs as is ginger, grapefruit seed exxtract and caprylic acid. A multivitamin seems to provide some benefit to a lot of people on here. Hope this help a bit, hopefully others will have more to add, would love to know how get on. Best of luck with it

I would feel a bit wary taking garlic since it has such a strong odour. I think you should buy grape seed tablets or grapefruit seed tablets. They are very good anti funguls and are stronger than garlic. I think you should definitely add them to your routine and use them in rotation. So one day use the grapefruit and the other day use the grape seed.
I think you should do a cleanse. Maybe just take 3 tablespoons of epsom salt in warm water in the morning to give your self a once over cleanse. But make sure you drink lots of water and take some probiotics every day, once a day, to keep good bacteria in your gut. Also if you do take anti funguls make sure you take it many hours away from taking a probiotic.
I read on a forum that many people stick to the candida diet but it does not work because they do not do a cleanse, so the bad stuff just stays there. But you know, that was just one person saying that, and he might not even be right.

Hi, the aim of a candida diet is to prevent the candida being fed. So if you don't use antifungals the actual candida bacteria will not die and you will still have candida. Some good antifungals are: Coconut oil (unlike some antifungals candida cannot adapt to this so you don't need to alternate it with any antifungal!) start slow with this one teaspoon three times a day then gradually add in extra going up to two teaspoons a day, then eventually go up to 4 teaspoons 3 times a day. www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Ddrugstore&field-keywords=coconut+oilUndecenoic acid SF-722 (this is expensive, but again candida cannot adapt to this so you don't need to alternate it with any other antifungal!) You can only purchase this in the US, also if you suffer from TMAU this may not be right for you as it contains fish capsules- again start you dosage gradually eventually taking 5 capsules 3 times a day. www.iherb.com/Thorne-Research-Formula-SF722-250-Fish-Gelatin-Gelcaps/18560Oregano oil- candida can adapt to this so you need to alternate it every two weeks with a different antifungal. Start gradually eventually taking your dosage to 4 teaspoons 3 times a day. www.amazon.co.uk/North-American-Herb-Spice-Co/dp/B0002BB70E/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1338809092&sr=8-9You need to start the antifungals gradually because if you start too high you will experience bad die off which is not good for your body because it means all the toxins will be flooding round your body causing damage. To help alleviate severe die off you can take molybdenum (a vitamin naturally found in the body) which helps remove toxins from the body (if you are going to get these buy the kind that says chelated). A probiotic such as the kefir is a must to help rebuild the beneficial bacteria. You might also want to add an extra probiotic supplement. A clense just helps to speed the healing time along so it does not really matter if you skip the clense. Plus for some people it's not possible if they have a very energetic job and need lots of energy.

Hey guys. Thank you for your suggestions. I think I am going to start with a cleansing for about a month, and then I will add antifungal supplements (after cleansing), and after one week I will add a probiotic supplement. I will do this while on a strict diet. Also, I plan to do this for the whole summer, so I have a lot of time ahead=). And thank you again=). Your comments were very helpful.

The Candida Diet is low in carbohydrate food, low in sugar, and generally low in fermented foods like therapy, alcohol consumption, etc. Yeast nourishes on carbs. Sugars make it grow and enhance its sticking with to the abdominal coating.
