So I am going to get tested for TMAU in a few weeks, and I keep reading about doing a Choline Load before the test. I don't know what a Choline Load is, but I'm assuming that it is eating foods high in Choline before I take the test. But I don't know what foods to eat, or how much, or for how long before the test. Any answers would greatly help! Thank You for your time reading this, and Thank You for your responses in advance!

Latty the important thing is to make sure you have your odor the day of the test.
You can take a choline tablet or eat a diet that includes choline high foods like eggs, liver, fish/seafood ( cod or monk fish are best if available) , beans, nuts, peanutbutter, red meat, cruciferous vegetables and dairy.
The diet should be for maybe several days to a week before to make sure it is in the urine. Good luck and where are you being tested?

Sharon thanks for responding. I'm having my test done here in Memphis Tennessee, USA. I talked about me smelling with my Dr., and he said I can have the urine test done at his office and then it would be shipped to be tested. Thank you for your information. I have never been on a diet because I have never been tested, so I eat pretty much what ever I want, but I can definatly smell myself, and other people can too. Trust me when I say I have been smelly for a long time...pretty much everyday for like 2 yrs. But no worries...if we were all born alike this world would be pretty boring! Thanks again, and I'll let you know how the test turns out! Do you have TMAU, and if so, how long have you been living with it?

Hi Latty, yes I am + for TMAU. I had symptoms all of my life.
It sounds like your urine will be sent to Arkasas Children's Hospital for testing.
Yes I would like to hear your results. Leave me a message here. When you get your results ask for a copy of the results and look to see if you are borderline. The MD's don't usually look at that, just positive and negative.

Test results through Arkansas are harder to read than those from the test site where you pay yourself.
Basically borderline means close to positive and is a grey area to some researchers.
Just ask for a copy and someone here can usually help if it comes back borderline.
