Hi guys, one or two of you have sent me emails expressing concerns about an infectious component to our condition. Has anyone here noticed anything like this? Please tell us.

What do you mean by infectious? Infecting other people with our odour?

This is a question I have asked myself quite a few times...
If both my sons and I have body odor at different degrees in response to high choline, high TMA, and high sulfur foods, I often wonder if it is due to a genetic condition or if perhaps I might have had some type of microbial condition that I might have passed down to them. After all, I gave birth to them, breast fed them, etc. In the back of my mind, I find this infectious (spreading infection to them) unlikely, but you never know.
Sometimes I also wonder if since the basis of our diet has always been extremely high TMA foods - fish and shellfish that we caught ourselves in the summer that would last the whole year, perhaps for some reason our immune system couldn't fight off some TMA producing bacteria that could have been in some fish we ate, and that lodged in our respective guts.
We can speculate, but only testing will give answers, because honestly, we don't know. I hope to test my whole family this year. We'll see.

I mean either of the following possibilities:- 1 A member recently contacted me to report that she acquired the same faecal odour as a relative after wearing his shirts. 2 Some people on our site have reported a PATM phenomenon (People are Allergic To Me). Is this due to an irritating chemical in our odour? Or is it due to a micro-organism we shed in our breath or body sweat? As an example, I have observed that young children of colleagues I work with, often get a fever, headache, cough or sickness. This often happens with me when I start a new job contract (I do agency work for 3-4 months then change jobs). Incidentally, did you guys know that our gut flora is usually genetically acquired? It's true!
