I've had a vaginal odor for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid I was pretty sick and took a lot of antibiotics I don't know but maybe something got screwed up. Anyways sometimes kids would run away from me, make embarassing comments in class etc. One time at work I even went so far as to put vagisil foam on my vagina the odor reducing one and leave it on there and a girl walked by and said "it smells like eggs stinky stinky eggs" basically I have no clue why I smell like that. I recently bought activated charcoal capsules and hope that will work but I am doubtful as I've tried nearly every product on the shelf at shoppers drug mart like creams, deodorant sprays, soaps, rephresh, tea tree sups, borax sups from vh essentials, sage capsules, waterworks, deodorant powders, charcoal pads like femd, tea tree oil, iodine douches, washing with betadine, femanol, vaginal probiotics, oral probiotics, baking soda baths, copper chlorophyllin, vinegar baths, etc. and nothing has worked I must have tried 100 different products. I am thinking about getting tested for tmau. I basically have no friends or anyone in my life without my family I'd be screwed. I went to the gynecologist and the test came back negative for any infections. I used the yeast infection stuff from monistat incase I had a yeast infection but nothing changed.I hope one day we can all find a cure.

Veronica, was your GYN able to smell anything? I would be careful with the otc preparations for yeast infection. Too much could eliminate too much and cause a bacterial infection. I do agree with you about getting tested for TMAU. Try to test the week before your period. Best wishes

the gyn said I don't smell. However I doubt this because wherever I go people usually say something about the smell and I've been told I smell by numerous people. Also I think it might be problems digesting sulfur or hydrogen sulfide because I think it smells like that.

I need help, there are random times that my "private parts" smell but they do not smell like fish or anything else I have asked about. However it doesn't smell good. Is there anything you guys can recommend for this type of thing? I went to the gyn not too long ago and I have no stds but it still bothers me that I hear all the time that someone tastes or smells good down there and I smell myself and I am hugely embarrassed. I was told by only one person that I stunk down there and I am not with him anymore. I am married now but when my husband and I first met he said he couldn't smell anything and that goes for my gyn as well. Could it be in my mind and are there nonharmful remedies to try just in case?

No offense Veronica, but, just be glad you have your family. I don't have my 3 brothers and 3 sisters or multiple nieces and nephews anymore, since they have all had fun for years telling jokes about my problem, calling me dirty, nasty, stinky, you name it. They would rather do this than help me find out what's wrong and heal. My doctors don't believe me so if they would come forth and tell him that I do have a problem since I was young, he would. But they choose to keep lying and telling their jokes in front of my face that they don't think I understand. I guess they think we are deaf and dumb, too. Just be thankful, at least for your family V, because mine is gone, this week I am doing a living will and they will not be allowed to come to my funeral or even be notified of my passing. I hope they burn in hell.

I'm sorry to hear you're suffering with this terrible condition as well. Do you know where the smell is coming from and what it smells like and what exacerbates it. I can maybe recommend some products or tests.

i cannot describe the smell, however, i can tell you that it usually starts when i sweat. then the odor begins. washing down there only works temporary because everytime i get hot, i start to smell. i can smell it myself, so i know it's there.

Maybe you can try copper chlorophyllin and activated charcoal. There was a study done by Yamazaki that showed it will reduce odors in tmau or something like that if that is the case. Maybe you can try talking to your doctor about treatments for excessive sweating hyperhydrosis of the genital area. I'm going to try magnesium oil which works as a natural deodorant supposedly though I dont know how healthy that is. You can try waterworks, fds, deodorant powders by summers eve and wipes. Also getting tested for infections might work. I still smell though it was found i dont have a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis but in many cases a smell can be caused by that. You can even try spraying your panyliners with the fds.

Hi - I'm not a doctor but this is clearly directly related to the antibiotics having destroyed your good gut bacteria as a kid and caused a yeast/ candida infection. Mixed with years of I presume a high gluten, sugar and processed food diet (that being the average diet) your gut must be in a state - shocked your Gynea hasn't picked it up. Feel terrible for you! Good news is treatable, bad news is you going to have to sort out your diet big time for ages - it's hard work. You will need major probiotics - not just prescription meds but to eat in form of fermented foods with practically every meal. You need to remove all chemical deodorants and soaps ... do your homework, there must be a natural doctor of sorts who can support you as there are things that can help - modern medicine still very behind in this topic and it's frustrating. Google has plenty of help as well. Be strong!
