Just joined here b/c i have absolutely no one in my life to talk to about this. I have only one friend and she's basically abandoned me for her fiance And even then we never talk about this subject. Can't burden my family with this either, too humiliating and they don't have the time. Anyway, just started this great job a few days ago. Pay is great, people are friendly, benefits, etc. I suffer from systematic candida so i'm a little weary of dealing with people. Anyway, the other day, i came down with a cold. Took some medication and cough drops. It's clearing up slowly. Only thing is my sense of smell and taste has been severly dulled. I can't smell any BO on myself, just detergent. This has never happened to me before. I think it's b/c the drops contained zinc gluconate. Well, because i couldn't smell myself. I had no idea my infection had returned. I kept getting dirty looks and i checked myself repeatedly and couldn't smell anything. Needless to say when i got home i figured it out. Sobbed for hours. This is not how i wanted to start off in this business. I now once again have a scarlett letter on my chest. I bascially want to crawl in a hole and die. Or quit and move to another continent. I tried to brave the looks and avoidance today but i just couldn't and ended up leaving at lunch time. It was too much. All humans want acceptance and i have lost that. I don't understand why this has happened to me. i've been dealing w/ this literally my whole life. People who have absolutely horrible diets don't smell like i do. I don't get it. have i pissed off this GOD person in another life? I'm at the end of my rope here. Sorry for the novel to anyone reading this. Any advice?

Hi, maybe it was just a reaction to the medicine you were taking, I know colds and stuff can have a big affect on your body. Hopefully after your cold goes you should return to normal. Just hang in there you could always take a week of work to amke sure your fine befor eyou go back as we know stress is a major factor. Have you been tested for TMAU?

Sorry you had a bad experience.
Have you tried to treat the systemic candida? I did it for only nine weeks and there was a HUGE difference! I used natural antifungals like caprylic acid and followed the anti-candida diet exactly for 9 weeks. A lot of my symptoms went away, like brain fog, etc.

Thanks for the replies guys. No, i haven't been tested for tmau. I don't think i've ever had a fishy odor. Im in the midst of a candida diet right now. Brown rice, kefir, acv, garlic, water, parsley, and tea. I need it to work fast. I'm already thinking of just moving to another state. Tired of being treated like i have the plague. Im going on 30 and have nothing to show for it because of this. No one forgives women who have BO. We're just written off as being "disgusting." Can't go through these problems and feelings again. Nearly broke me last time.

Try to hang in there chick. There are people out there who can empathise with you. I am currently at university in the UK, its hell but I just get my head down. I too moved to a different country but I ended up just leaving behind eberyone who cared about me and feel more alone than ever. But sometimes it is a good thing to clear your head. Just a point on TMAU, it is called fish odour syndrome but many people who suffer with it do not have a fishy odour at all so it might be worth looking into.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll look more into tmau. Im sorry you're having a hard time at the university. I had a horrible experience at mine as well. It was a small school and i was treated horribly. That's when i figured out what i was dealing with. It took me forever to get it remotely under control. During that time there was also a boy w/ bowel problems and fecal odor and a girl with fish odor. Of course every scent produced by them was blamed on me. They seemed to have lots of friends despite their odors. I had to learn to change my attitude. Can't have bo and a sour attitude too. Makes life more unbearable. Best of luck. Hopefully you'll be cured by the time you graduate and you can start your new life off better than i did.

Hi imaneedhelp,
Sorry for what you are going through. What is it that you did to get your odor in control in the first place, can you not just go back to that.Did you diet at all and had you gone off the diet, maybe thats why it came back. Also, I notice even when normal people without BO are sick they seem to have more BO so maybe it will go away when you are no longer sick.

i basically took some probiotics and acv and stayed away from sugars as best i could. Didnt go away completely as i still have underarm issues sometimes. It definitely did lessen to where only i could smell it and only if im naked. Of course hot days and menstrual days were not the case. I haven't had any sugar all month aside from oj to protect from sickness (which apparently was a failure). Did go on bit of a sugar binge last month. Maybe that did me in. I don't know. Thank you for replying.

You can find some great information about it on this website www.bloodbornebodyodorandhalitosis.com If you were in the UK the best advice is to gather as much information you have online and take it with you when you go to see your doctor. However as you are in the states I recommend that you contact maria she has been a big help to me in the past. Her email address is maria.delatorre@meboresearch.org she is also on the forums I think her username is mpdela but im not 100% on that. Drop her an email anyway and ask for advice on testing for TMAU in the states.

Hi!
You sound like me at work. I'm based in the UK and find anxiety makes me smell worse. I'm going to change my diet to see if this helps. I'm also trying alternative healing like acupuncture points to cope with the emotional stress. Life is unfair sometimes and people can be ignorant. Hang in there! xxx
