I am in my 60's.....so NOT having my periods anymore as many mentioned but I do not eat ONIONS anymore for 8 months now & this ONION SMELL in armpits started about a month ago! It is so smelly & disgusting! I use extra deodorant......& also have doused my armpits with powder......they still stink! Very embarrassing when my teenage granddaughter told me the other night that I "stink" !!! There MUST be something else out there besides the Donna Karan deodorant that is too expensive for me living on limited Soc Sec now!!! Thank you! It has nothing to do with bacterias outside. If it does, it would be ok when we use special soaps, or deodorants which are only covering the smell, which is FROM INSIDE. It comes after the bath, after the shower, immediately. Has nothing to do with the diet too, sorry. I tried fasting long periods of time, drinking water as well, but nothing is changing. 3 years now, my smell is terrible, and I am washing constantly, no help, but, at least cheaper solution is Garnier deodorant 5 Protection 48h.

Hi, I've always had a low degree of odor that intensified at puberty especially under my arm. But recently, about 4 yrs ago, I had ivf treatment that required me to take megadoses of hormones. A little after this I noticed that I had this odor that would linger in the room, not a regular BOnolder but one that would linger for several feet around me and people really started to notice it. It would even remain in the room after I left the room. I am in a high position professional job and this caused me the utmost dress. I've tried numerous things but I feel that I've now nailed it down to what works best for me and wanted to share. I noticed that my order is the most significant when I'm stressed. I had the Mira dry procedure done which helped somewhat in reducing the order but not completely, so I still have to use other things. The anti-perspirant called sweat block works pretty well in minimizing the onion any smell. But what works best is a prescription medication called Glycopyrrolate which decreases your overall sweating. Sweating seems to be the root cause of my older so if I can somehow stop this wedding I notice my order is minimized. Granted it does not go away but at least it's at a somewhat manageable level. I hope this helps.

TRY THIS I Read through most posts, here is what I did, worth a try--
Ingredients -lemon -baking soda -sea salt -tea tree oil
Squeeze juice from a lemon into a bowl or jar Add 3/4-1 teaspoon of salt Slowly add a teaspoon of baking soda little by little (it will fizz up with foam) Add a 5 or so drop of tea tree oil
*add some soda then drop of tea tree to calm the fizzing
Once combined cover and keep in fridge Use a paper towel to dip and apply to underarm
It works. I tried it right after reading so many answers here, then I got the flu and couldn't even bath for 2 days, I still didn't stink even with being sick and sweating so much.
I also did try washing armpits with dandruff shampoo (didn't hurt to try)

I have the problem of the onion smell, I've got a tip Listerine (THE MOUTHWASH) After you shower completely dry your underarms, soak a cottonball in Listerine apply completely (it may sting)let dry then you can apply deodorant if needed.I've been doing this and it really works for me

I think the armpit onion smell can be from a number of contributing factors like hormones, stress levels,Post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, diet, discharging wounds from boils in armpits, dehydration, puberty, menopause, sleeping in a bed/room which is stinky, etc. Most of these I suffer from being a 24year old single male. +. I have been a sufferer of onion smell since I think when I turned 18, social isolation was probably at its peak until now. People still remove themselves far from me from church and school and sometimes I get called out as if I don't shower. + So I had a job interview yesturday, I had a good shower with soap and men's body wash before I went to the interview, wore clean clothes, looked like a $100 but smelt like a dime. Long story short I got the job but one of the managers is very outspoken and tried to get my attention by calling me "Onion", everyone in the room laughed, was humiliating but a bit funny. So even after having a good shower, applying "men's antibacterial spray", wearing clean clothes I still smelt like an onion. +. So I think I will start using the lemon baking soda method and I'll let you guys know of the progress. +. SMELL YOUS LATER.:-)

Avon is the deo that works best for me but trying to stay away from aluminum. I use it when going somewhere. Otherwise, baking soda is GREAT but stings slightly at first if freshly shaven. If no time for a shower and pits are horrible, apply bake no soda and it's totally gone until shower

I know someone that makes a great organic deodorant that allows you to sweat and hides the smell. I would suggest to stop eating onions and start taking enzymes to help your digestion.

Yes yes diet can cause problems. I don't have just the arm pit thing, it's like entire body. But a onion, garlicky, bacteria smell. Yes I shower. But thought I'd throw this out there, my wife makes me a spray bottle of essential oils with a carrier or water for the shower. & sometimes she even will even throw green soap in it with the mixture of essential oils. I'm talking about the young living essential oil. & I have had a mixture she made for me that I drank once as well. Just the taste wasn't for me, not bad, not good, but you can mix with whatever you want. We use them quite often in laundry soap, making the house smell good, in lotion (CAUTION! Always shake everything you put essential oils in or bottle itself. Get a book & study not all essential oils are for you. A little bit goes a long way. Always have carrier. Test with proper carrier before use. Some essential oils you can't drink! Small skin test with a lot of carrier. Lol! Buy a book! Learn online! Get educated!) Anyway it has helped a ton!! & I have one she makes me helps with bad breath. Very few medications cross the blood brain barriers, the "real" essential oils do so, & its natural. Also you may see if you have an auto immune disorder. Anyway I probably won't be around again, but maybe helped someone. Take care Nonetheless

Oh my wife will have to scold me later, if you have or are going to be around someone with epilepsy, don't use Sandalwood or any woods or pine essential oils as they can cause seizures. Can't remember them all at the moment. Good luck nonetheless

Here’s the answer ladies. I recently had this issue for the second time in about 6 months. The first time it lasted for weeks with no relief. However the second time this happened to me I completely healed my armpits in 1 day. No joke. Here is my solution. I wet my armpits with warm water then I rubbed Purely Northwest Antifugal foot and body wash with tea tree oil under my arm pits. Leave on for 5 mins. Then I washed with Schmidt’s cedar and juniper natural soap. Leave on for 5 mins. I then dried my under arms and used Schmidt’s Natural deodorant scent was Earth and Wood (the best deodorant hands down) I promise it will take the funk away. Ladies no joke the smell was instantly gone. I did this process again the next day to make sure it would not return. The second day I also sprayed Tru Skin Daily Facial Super Toner under my armpits as it is part of my daily routine. Which one of these product rid my underarms of the onion smell I don’t know. But I smell so good. It’s amazing!
