Hello I was Smelly Kelly on the old site. I was diagnosed with TMAU a year ago. Feeling tearful and depressed as its my birthday today and I still do not have this odour under control (its been 4 years now and it has affected my life so much it controls it). Thought I would have it sorted by now. The diet of rice and vegetables has made me very tired and the antibiotics are making me feel sick. Living out in the country to avoid contact with people to give me a chance to get better, but I still here comments from some passers by Do not know if Candida is an issue too at loss to know what else to try.

Hey Kelly, So pleased you found us again. How is Max? He looked so cute sitting on the patio in the sun, yawning. And in the pic with your partner at your friend's wedding, you both looked so happy and so good together. Are you still working from home? Was it book-keeping? Hey, at least that is one less big stress. Just imagine if you had to work daily with 50 other people in an enclosed environment like a Pharmacy. How is the CBT going? Do you still attend? I am touched that you remembered us all on your birthday but also sad that you weren't partying and enjoying yourself instead of surfing this site. I used to cope with the stress of this condition by being drunk but I gave up alcohol altogether and this reduced my odour and I feel a lot happier these days, especially after going to the gym and having a good sweat out on the treadmill. I remember you telling us you had Primary TMAU. Some people can attain dietary control but others find it hard. I think it's down to your residual FM03 function. The people who can attain dietary control probably have some residual FM03 activity left. Vitamin B2 is a cofactor for the FM03 enzyme. Cofactor loading is worth trying as it may allow you to eat what you are eating now without smelling as bad. Have you tried Vitamin B2 at a dose of 100mg 4 times a day? If it has no effect within 2 weeks of taking it then it is not worth continuing with it. Are you coming to our Sept 10/11th Meetup on the Tattershall Castle boat, Embankment? I was not able to detect your odour at a past meetup and neither were other members. I think it is because we have similar conditions. You could use this to your advantage and socialise with other members. This will restore your confidence and put a smile back on your face Arun

Hi Arun I like the new site. Max is very well and we are taking him on holiday with us next week to Dorset to stay in a farm cottage there. Really want to go to Barbados (my favourite place used to go every year), but thats a no no with the plane flight at the moment. I will be avoiding crowded places, but we will be staying with my partners sister and kids. This is be interesting as his sister cannot smell me (she knows all about my illness too), but the kids can (I am sure that it will drive them mad by the end of the week!). I am still working from home helping my uncle with bookkeeping and running his property business. Also, some typing for my partner's business. CBT worked very well and I no longer get so upset over peoples comments. We had a nice thai meal takeaway for my birthday yesterday and I have pulled myself back together today. I have very recently given up alcohol too in the last couple of weeks. Decided to give up chocolate as well. Going to order a new aerobics DVD to sweat it out. I must abmit I have not tried B2, so will give it a try. I would like to go to the meet up, but will see how I am nearer the time. Kelly

Kelly, Barbados might have been too hot right now anyway? What about the weather we had last week, 25 degrees or so. Amazing or what? Hot weather is not good for our conditions, the more we sweat the worse we smell. I feel happiest when it's around 21 degrees and I can have a relaxing walk in the woodlands without feeling hot and bothered. Do tell us some more about the CBT when you come back from Dorset. Did you have to pay for it? How long did it last? What did it involve - was it one to one? Giving up the choccies and booze and doing workouts can only be a good thing. The times I've felt best in my life is when I've been to the gym, done salad diets, given up booze altogether and had free time to focus on hobbies and interests. Yes do see how you are at the time of the meetup. I am expecting a good turnout and I've had a little whisper in god's ear about making sure it's sunny Arun

Hi Arun, Yes, the weather has been great here. I am at my happiest when walking with Max too. Will definitely tell you more about CBT another time, it is a big help mentally. At least with this illness I find it easy to maintain a great toned figure, with the abs of a twenty year old! Hope to come to the meet up and will keep my fingers crossed for good weather too. Kelly

Hi. It's nice you maintain a good body. I seem to be the only one who doesn't lose weight. I don't follow the diet extremely strictly but I seem to gain weight from this diet because we have to stay away everything that's good for you like spinach, broccoli, fish, eggs, which are slimming. I end up eating a lot of things like white rice and English muffins and Pop Tarts!!! What is everybody eating that keeps you slim while avoiding the broccoli and cauliflour, etc.

Hi Bethemiracle Basically, I exercised every day for three months doing an aerobics/dance dvd and turned any fat on my body to toned muscle (but not in a bulky way and l lost about a stone in the process). This was about 3 1/2 years ago and all before I knew I had TMAU in an effort to get rid of this dreaded body odour problem. So I would never have done it otherwise. I do still exercise but to a much lessor extend and my body has stayed very toned due to generally eating less. I also only eat little and often due to this illness, plus do not drink much alcohol (even before cutting it out now). Otherwise a combination of the above would mean I smell even worse then I already do Kelly

My diet is usually:-
Special K for breakfast. French bread with cream cheese and ready salted crisps for lunch. Also, tend to eat a lot of fruit and veg, along with brown or white rice/cous cous/sweet potatoes.

Make sure you do proper food combining, always eat the most water based foods first , salads ,blueberries anything with high water content followed by things with less water content. Doing this will prevent a "traffic jam" in your intestines , which means allowing easier digesting foods to digest first before the tougher ones. Ive been doing this for two days now while taking a vitamin B2 complex and I feel great. I plan on continuing this for a week a do a colon Cleanse after. I actually had a pretty healthy bm today and noticed my mood is better! Hope this helps !
