There is a recent study done in South Korea that found that FMO 3 activity in the liver is enhanced by a particular mushroom variety, Phellinus baumii. I learned of this study through the Systemic Body Odor Blog, in an entry from December 2016. You can also look it up on Google. It appears that Phellinus baumii is not available for purchase in the United States; however, its close relative, Phellinus linteus, is widely available. Phellinus linteus is structurally almost identical to Phellinus baumii, and therefore should enhance liver function in general, altho its effect on FMO 3 is unclear. There are several reliable distributors of mushroom products in the United States--Four Sigma, Mushroom Wisdom, Quality of Life, Pure Synergy etc. There is also Dermetel, who recently made a noble effort to bring DMB to the United States consumer. Could any of these companies be pursuaded to import Phellinus baumii from South Korea and add it to their product line? If enough interest were shown by the TMAU community, maybe so.
