hello.. it's a bit disheartening to fiind that the forum is very inactive. seems to me that most have given up and just moved on with their life living with this dreaded condition. if anyone is out there, it would be great to get some responses on how they are dealing with their condition and if there are any active members on this board, it would be great to hear from y'all and if you're still suffering with this condition or if you have managed to beat it and how. thanks.

whelp..... I guess that I won't get much answers here. even the administrator has been inactive on this forum. last active back in the year 2013! very disheartening. guess all I got left is to read whatever has been posted already and hope that someday the mediical establishment finds a cure.till then, all I can do is hope for a miracle. I have tried every "solution" that is out there. seen every type of doctor that is out there. but still no results. what a curse to have this condition. I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. that's how bad this is.

Hello, stinky, how are you today! Yeah, I can feel your discouragement when you see how inactive the message boards are on this website. In all honesty, it is starting to turn me off a little too. I still suffer from a chronic body odor problem which sometimes manifests itself as a noticeable fecal smell. It was much worse last year from, I believe with experience, the side effects of a medication I was taking for my diabetes known as Metformin. The fecal smell has since abated a little but I am still dealing with rude comments from customers and my co-workers so I don't know what to think. I, too, like many others have had to deal with digestive upset for many years too. I've been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome on a few occasions with probable, although not diagnosed, lactose intolerance. I don't take any medications for these GI conditions but I am still on a drug for high-blood pressure and for my thyroid. My body odor tends to vary each day. I can go from having a sour fecal smell to a stale musty sweaty odor. I also have intermittent problems with a noticeable halitosis. I chew gum frequently at work to try and mask the smell but sometimes I feel the gum might make the smell worse because some people react like my breath just hits them in the face while I'm talking to them. I practice good daily personal hygiene but unfortunately have developed a very much undeserved reputation as being dirty and hygienic because of this. You are more than welcome to talk more about your problem and I could provide you more information on my own struggles with smelling bad.

hi npd! thanks for responding, It helps to know I am not alone on this dreaded condition and that there are people out there that are going thru the same struggles I go thru. I have a lot more to say about the subject and willl be posting more about my personal history and what struggles I've been going thru. been suffering with this condition for about 7+ years now. been seeing a gastroentologist about this subject but I don't think my GI doctor has dealt with this kinda case before, the fecal body odor. I will say that I've been improving since on my IBS issues with a radical change of lifestyle and by changing around my diet, but I still struggle with fecal body odor and halitosis as well. I'll have much more to post and share about the struggles and remedies that I've encountered. I could probably write a book about it due to the years of research I've been digging up since I've encountered this problem lol.. but thank you again for responding and it's good to know that I am not the only one who suffers with this and that there are people that I can chat with who can understand this problem. can't really discuss it with anyone I know cause most if not all the people I know don't have a clue about the subject and it's an embarassing subject to just bring up out of the blues and share my struggles with someone who doesn't understand that it's not a hygiene problem but an internal problem. most people just don't get it and chalk it up to bad hygiene or they just think I'm crazy. Even my GP thinks it's all in my head. cheers to you and I hope someday we can finally find a cure rather than just finding ways to supress the ce ondition. I do have some "good" days but they are far and few in between. thw one thing that did improve for me during all this time dealing with this condition is that I am improving my IBS symptoms by far, but I can't beat the fecal body odor and halitosis. and that's the 2 things that effect me the most. It has totally turned an outgoing guy like me to a recluse. hope to hear from you and others and I hope that more members would post more often. finding a support group like this helps a lot. Cheers to you and I'll be posting much about everything I've been thru so others can get insight they might not have had previously and can learn more about this subject and we can find an answer to beat this condition. I've spent thousands over the 7 years on products of every nature and doctors in many different fields so I feel somewhat of an expert on this subject lol. so you'll be seeing a bunch of future posts from me when I get the time to post more on the subject. I could write a novel on it lol. but thanks again for responding and thanks for giving me hope. take care and as bob marley would say, one love

Hey, how are you today? Feel free to post as much as you want on your struggles with this condition. I did too awhile back. In fact, I think there might be a specific message board dedicated to a clinical ordering of your symptoms and odor type. I remember filling out a profile over there. You could read mine and I would like to read yours! If you do post a bit, I think a few people will probably pop in and see what's up. I look forward to hearing from you!

hi npd! good to hear back from ya. it's early afternoon right now where I'm at an so far today has been a good day. went to work earlier and I sweated a ton today, which i do like, but it's the sticky sweat that I dread.so hot lately. I live in hawaiii on the island of maui and i work outdoors. I do love when I sweat, but it's the sticky sweat that I dread. started off with sticky sweat then eventually the sweat began to turn to normal sweat, where it's majority water and less oil and grime. I do landscaping and I don't have to work around a bunch of people so that's a plus for me. but anytime anyone gets near to me I get paranoid. I do dip my head under the water a lot during work so that helps me from getting that greasy oily sweat that I dread. I also keep a clean shaven head cause if I don't, my head reeks of something foul. also the smell seems to emanate from my back, shoulders, neck, and chest.
I seen my gastroentologist yesterday and though I am the only case she has ever seen that has this condition, she is very understanding and tries to help me find solutions. So yesterday she recommended I take a product called oxyflush. so I ordered 3 bottles of it on the web on amazon and the products should be arriving to me in the first week of august. I read up on the product and it seems to be very promising. It's basically a colon cleanser with oxygen in it. I'm hoping this product will give me great results. It's supposed to get all the impacted, deeply ingrained feces off the intestines and colon walls. the reviews have been very promising and I hope to god this helps with my fecal body odor. I do know that I have a sluggish digestive system and I'm praying that I'll get some kind of positive results. Once when I was at my worst, I chugged a half a bottle of anti constipation liquid. the kind you can pick up over the counter. soon after I chugged the liquid, I took the biggest crap of my life. I was amazed at how much crap came outta my system. after I took that crap of a lifetime, I had immediate positive results in my fecal body odor. So I'm hoping this product will do the same but better being that it's an oxygenated colon cleaner. I will difinitely post the results when I start taking the product. last night I cheated on my diet and today I am feeling the results. I ate a ton of shrimp, rice, and a bunch of smoked meat. today also I went overboard and had 2 salmon patties and some pasta with goat cheese. haven't had a bowel movement yet so I'm feeling bloated. hoping to have a bowel movement sometime today. I use fleet enemas on myself if I miss a bowel movement a day. I try to have at least 1 bowel movement a day at the least so if I go a day without a bowel movement, I'll take stool softeners and do an enema. but ya, I went overboard on my diet and I'm paying the price right now, lol. anyways, good to hear from you and once I get that oxyflush product, I'll get on it and give day to day commentary as to how the product works for me. thanks again for sticking around and listening to my story, it really helps to have someone who goes thru the same or similar issues to be there to talk and share. it's given me hope. cheers to you and hope you are enjoying the rest of your day.

Hi
I have had a good deal of improvement in my odour condition. I blame my odour condition on repeated antibiotic treatment which wiped out my gut bacteria, although I did not know this at the time.
I appear to have developed leaky gut, IBS, chronic constipation, and fbo. I eventually discovered I had an overgrowth of d-lactate bacteria in my gut and thought that taking probiotics would help.
I did not know that acidophillus probiotics feed d-lactate bacteria, so I was in fact making my situation worse instead of better.
When I discovered this, I stopped taking everything, all herbal meds etc, and went on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, and I started to take Prune juice at night and a glass in the morning. This solved my constipation.
I have stuck to the diet for a couple of years now and I am not convinced I am 100% cured, but I now go into shops and can be close to people and they do not cover their nose/mouth, make comments or run away as they did in the past. I make my own coconut milk from dessicated coconut, and have started to add porridge to my diet and so far so good. I would swear by the prune juice it has made a substantial difference. I used to take laxatives etc and now I take nothing.
Also I wasn't sure if I had developed anal fissures due to the constipation so after taking the prune juice and everything was working ok i used anusol pessaries each night along with anusol cream, and duirng the day I used a pessary which was meant for vaginal dryness but can also be used for anal problems. I kept this regime up for about two weeks and again this made a difference.
I have also put a post on about DMB, which is found in extra virgin olive oil and blocks tmao production, so I have recently started to take extra olive oil as well, but this might not make any difference to me, but thought I would try it anyway.
Hope this info helps.

hi livinginhope. thanks for the response. I'll try the prune juice. I have ibs as well along with a bunch of other digestive disorders and always feel constipated. still waiting on the oxygenated colon cleaner that I ordered. I'm hoping that makes a noticable difference. I've been taking probiotics for quite some time now and I believe for me, it does nothing. maybe it's making my symptoms worse? another symptom I've been experiencing lately is very oily, sticky skin. still waiting on an appt with a endocrinologist. my body is producing an excess amount of sebum. a few hours after I shower I get all oily and sticky and feel I need another shower. also at night I release an exreme amount of sebum and get up feeling real oily and sticky. It's so hard to live like this. but I'll try the prune juice for my constipation. thanks for the response!

Hello stinky,I have cured my fecal body odor By exercising, dieting, and overall positive thinking. Stress only makes it worse. It may seem impossible but eat only green vegetables, drink water, and go running for a few weeks or month and you will see huge differences. I know how painful this can be, please take my advice.

My guess on the laxative question is that it's never a long-term solution to anything.

I'm very new to this form but I've been reading a lot today many of these posts. I won't go off the wall but also have this condition fishy odor smell or poopy smell. But after a lot of investigating on my own part talking to my gastroenterologist and primary doctor trying to find out what could be the cause of it I finally realized that I had to do a lot of searching on my own. What I've come up with is a condition called tmau or TMA or tmao if you look them all up one will lead to the other. There's a very long name to it but these are the abbreviations. It all has to do with an enzyme in your gut that you're lacking. All of us have choline that we develop in our system that's vital to the nutrients in our body to be metabolized. Some of us are lacking the enzyme called fmo3. Or have very low FM 03. This enzyme breaks down our choline

Sorry I wasn't finished with my post but anyways the choline doesn't get broke down therefore the choline keeps accumulating in your body. Look up the TMA, tmao and TAMU it will go into detail for you all. And it is a lifestyle change that we all have to make. But it is an enzyme that we were lacking and it begins in our gut!!!! The gut is a second brain all diseases start in our gut where is a catalyst to the diseases that we do have in our system. When the guts not working your body is not working properly. I finally have had my Dr gastroenterologist and primary doctors do blood work to see if I have TMA fishy body odor. It was sent to the University of Rochester New York and then the blood work is going to the Mayo Clinic in Cleveland Ohio. You see I was really on to something and doing a lot of research on my own my doctors were telling me they didn't smell anything and I would tell them over and over and it's been going on for years with me. I can't take it anymore! I'm just now beginning to date again after a long relationship that ended and I'm so self-conscious that it's hard for me to plan a date with the men that are interested in dating me I'm always making up some sort of an excuse not to go isn't that pathetic! Anyways I will go down to the bottom of this and with all of your help and getting back into the swing of this communicating with each other we can't stop being advocates for each other it's so important to us to have the support! So another thing you all can do is look up the Mayo Clinic there's a website and plug-in tmau they're doing a lot of research on it now. I've been just recently diagnosed with arthro sclerosis. It's hardening of the arteries. I'm only 54 years old and being told that I'm way too young to have this. The doctors used to think that arthro sclerosis and heart disease was only caused by high cholesterol well they're finding out now that it has to do with the byproducts or free radicals that are in your system and going through your bloodstream instead of being totally digested and poo-pooed out into the toilet. This garbage smell or body odor fishy smell that we have is in our blood stream. Please look into this all of it! As I have.. having too much choline in your system is what fish have in abundance amount of choline that gives them the fishy odor. Cut out as much choline as you can because you're producing enough of it. That's broccoli cabbage cauliflower and there's others you'll need to look into I apologize for this being so long of a response but if you don't already know about this condition and please look it up.. I've learned so much.. God bless and let us all keep in touch.. š much love, Pisces

Hello All,
No one has responded on this site in a very long time. I am hoping someone can update us on what is working for them. I have no luck and fixing this craziness that goes on with our bodies.

I'm so glad AND sad to have found this forum.I suffered greatly in my college years with this total scourge. Instead of enjoying myself with my peers, I was dreading being around them as I had developed this weird fecal odour. It got so bad, that I started to ditch afternoon lectures altogether if I could. I had the whole package deal - smelly scalp, dry mouth with stale breath, and fecal body odour. You can imagine the state my self esteem was in. I remember taking a bowle clenase prep for a bowel scope, and even after all that pooping, I could get a faint odour from myself. However, it was much reduced. All they found was a kink in my gut. I believe stress plays a huge part in the vicious cycle component of this condition. When I stress, my body temp rises. And this then makes the apocrine (oily) sweat glands do their thing and make stink sebum. These glands are in the scalp, chest, back, neck, pits, crotch, feet. Charming! My college days are long behind me, and I felt I had somehow "outgrown" this condition as my life had kind of settled down for me. However. Last week I started eating porridge (gluten free), which had me going to the loo more than usual. And guess what? My ole fecal smell friend is back! Was it the porridge? Does all that excess pooping stir up something in the gut that then reaches the exit and is causing the odour?? I think this condition may be related to yeast/fungi/carbohydrate/sugar in general. A keto diet could be the solution. I also think I may be pre-diabetic. Is this related? Is high blood insulin part of this? I don't know. But maybe keto plus intermittent fasting would be worth a try. Also, coconut oil pulling is great to freshen the mouth. Look it up. I feel everyone's pain on this forum. It's such a humiliating condition. But this is all about the gut. I don't necessarily believe probiotics is the holy grail as it could cause more harm than good initially. But a colon cleanse from a reputable practitioner would be a good place to go also.
