I would stay away from anti-perspirants. A good deodorant that I suggest is Lavilin - www.lavilin.comSo good! And you only need to use it once or twice a week. Check them out!

I have this problem. We are Asians and eat a lot of onion and garlic.
A few days into my period n my armpits smell like onions. I removed the hair from.armpits n applied secret deodorant. My armpits smell fresh but the rest of the body smells like onions.

My age is 71, do not eat onions or sugar and have this problem. Tried different types of deoderants including mens and nothing worked. Got real tired of getting out of the shower and having the smell before I had a chance to dry off. I too am retired and only on SS but decided to splurge on the Donna Karan out of desperation. Well, yes, it works for me BUT not as good as when I first started with it. So far, it is the only thing I found that works at all and believe me when I say I tried a lot of things. I hope all of us with this problem find relief. Here I thought I was the only one. lol

Oh, my fellow Garlic Lovers, I really feel your pain! Add to that my current retirement, I thought that I could indulge my love for garlic freely and abundantly, but no. Every once in a while, it is necessary to leave my reclusive existence and get out among other Garlic Lovers, those who are made to feel ashamed if they do. So now I must fast for 24 hours before events such as dental and optical services, not to mention a kiss from my one and only.

I also have this problem...I have had it for about 5 years or so now. No matter how many times I take a bath etc the smell keeps coming back....What can be done to help get rid of this issue? I don't eat onions or garlic so I know that is not the issue.

To the GRANDMA OF 2 lady: Witch hazel is the key ingredient in natural deo's and in the Dona Karan deo that helps combat stinkies. you do NOT have to spend a fortune on that stuff though.... By itself Witch Hazel smells pretty good, but also, it is an all natural (and super old-school) anti-bacterial agent, hence why it kills stench. It will NOT prevent sweating, however...that is what antiperspirants are for, and once you start sweating, the smell tends ot come back with it due ot bacteria in a warm, moist, dark environment. Tea tree oil is anti-bacterial as well, and I've noticed for me, the fragrance lasts much longer, plus it is moisturizing to our beaten-up armpit skin. I LOVE to use tea tree oil as an alternative deodorant on weekends or when I don't have to worry about sweat marks as much. Good luck everyone!

Hi guys, I don't have this onion problem, but I've encountered 2 young men (early 20s) that have it. One was an international student that cleaned my workplace. It was so bad he actually got fired. He always looked very clean and healthy but smelled like onions bobbing around in a sink of cologne (obviously trying to mask it). I thought at the time, and maybe it is the source, that it would be from his culture's food. He sometimes smelled of curry as well. I silently wished I could help him or that he would find a group like this. Honestly, I even prayed it would go away for him. Now I work with a guy in a warehouse and I was near him the other day and noticed an onion smell. I almost commented on it but realized it might be his BO and didn't want to embarrass him. The next day the supervisor brought up BO and hygiene in the morning meeting and I felt so sad for him. Obviously someone noticed. He's in good shape (very lean) and I highly doubt he eats an ass-load of onions... But he did say he really likes food. Sounds like it could be a myriad of causes. The "too much yeast in your system" sounds plausible to me, he eats sandwichs I think. The wild rose detox kit may help. I did it once for other reasons and ITS HARD to eat no yeast - its in a lot of things; Still worth a try I guess. I wish I could also find the cure to this affliction so I could maybe help. I wouldn't want to recommend a type of deodorant to a coworker - that would be weird right? Just know you have great sympathy from some people and I don't assume that you folks are unclean. I really hope an across the board solution comes up one day. Take care

Oh... One other thing. I wonder if its worth shaving your pits. I know that might be weird if you're a guy, but i get the regular kind of BO sometimes, I've noticed its really only if I've forgotten to shave my pits for a day or two. I think the bacteria lives on the hair. I'm going to buy myself a laser hair remover and I'll let you know if having zero pit hair makes pit smell a non issue. Also - I'm sure this is drastic - but my sister in law had her sweat glands removed from her pits surgically. I think she had an excessive sweating problem, not an odor one. I've never asked her about it, I was only told by my mother in law before so I don't know anything about it. Peace ✌

I am having the same issue with the onion pits. I can also say, my diet has been horrible. Cannot tell you the last time I had greens. I do remember back in college, a professor talking about chlorophyll in your diet will help with body odor. I also saw a post on here about chlorophyll pills.
I guess it is kind of true when they say "garbage in, garbage out" on your body.

I found my solution for this 40 years ago. It worked all these years until my friend did my laundry while I was in the hospital. She used her own "fresh scent" detergent and softener. There must be some chemical in my system that doesn't mesh with scented clothes. Try using scent-free on your clothing, bedding & towels.
